ISOLATION OF A NOVEL ANTIMICROBIAL POLYPEPTIDE FROM AN Aspergillus niger ISOLATE

In this study the extracellular proteins from isolate LC3 belonging to Aspergillus were purified for new antimicrobial polypeptide (AMP) discovery and then tested activity against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923) Methicillin-resistant S. (MRSA). Antimicrobial was determined by trypsin/proteinase K assay, which polypeptide-based, it observed that protein a of about 11 kDa gel overlay assay. The minimum inhibitory concentration AMP molecule ATCC 25923 MRSA 8 µg/ml 32 µg/ml, respectively confirmed. ITS sequence analysis showed identified as niger, using Bioedit assembly program. deposited with GenBank database accession number MK332597. results indicate has potential be used in infections caused aureus.
